Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me. That old rhyme was probably created to soothe a child who’d been called names on the playground. But the truth is that it really does hurt when someone calls you names, judges you unfairly, or thinks less of you because of some superficial reason. You may now be feeling bad because of something someone said, but you have to realize that it is not a reflection of who you are - it is more likely a reflection of the other person’s own pain or insecurity. Let it go.
